Watch a Project in Action

In a cross post at Edutopia's Spiral Notebook, I offer an update on the collaborative project that I first talked about here. Telannia Norfar, the dynamo behind this effort, is a reflective ninth-grade math teacher who blogs at PBL Birdside View. She is providing a wonderful window on all the nitty-gritty details of designing a real-world project that crosses disciplines and meets the needs of diverse learners. And now, the students have entered the picture! Stay tuned for more updates or visit her blog to find out what's new.

Suzie;

What a great article. I would love to see more about Project Based Learning. As a teacher who is trying to implement a PBL project for my Health Science Technology classes for the 2008 - 2009 school year, http://tinyurl.com/4ny9le, I am delighted to see what other educators and doing. Thanks.

Thanks, John! Looks like you are already ahead of the game with advance planning and good thinking about the 2008-09 school year. I'll be eager to hear what sorts of projects your students choose. The domain of health sciences seems like an ideal place to put PBL to good use, with Web 2.0 technologies to take learning even farther.
You might want to join the Diigo group focusing on PBL resources: http://groups.diigo.com/groups/projectbasedlearning
And, of course, I hope you'll take a look at Reinventing PBL for more ideas!
Good luck,
Suzie
